Pharmacy First Service

The Pharmacy First service allows participating community pharmacies to receive referrals from NHS 111, GP practices and other referring centres.

Pharmacy First referrals are requests for a pharmacist to support patients that require:

  1. 1. An urgent medicine(s) supply - (Not applicable to GP practices)
  2. 2. A consultation with a pharmacist to manage a minor illness.
  3. 3. A consultation for one of 7 common conditions.

Additionally, the Pharmacy First service supports the treatment of patients that self-present at the pharmacy suffering with any of the 7 common conditions.

Referrals from all referring centres generally appear in the workflow of the IT platform chosen by the pharmacy to support provider pays services. For many areas of the country the IT platform in use is Outcomes4Health.

A series of Pharmacy First guides have been provided below along with an instructional video guide for more information on how our service operates.
